The New York Intern Project 2012

After this year's New York Intern Project entrants garnered more than 236,000 total page views and a combined total of 15,953 votes and 161 comments to the contest, Affect is pleased to finally name the grand prize winner of the 2012 New York Intern Project. A big congratulations to University of Akron, Ohio's very own Katey Kimpel!

Katey's journey to become the winner began after she garnered more than 1,200 votes in an online voting round. Katey was selected as one of two finalists who were flown to New York City after dazzling our judges during the semi-final interviews. Katey's passion and enthusiasm for PR shone through during the final round, securing her spot as this year's New York Intern Project grand prize winner.

Affect would like to thank everyone who entered, voted for their favorite entries and supported The New York Intern Project. In addition, a huge thank you to our judges for their work in helping select our winner!

Katey will start her internship with Affect soon, and we can’t wait to have her aboard! Follow along on our blog to learn more about her internship and experience at Affect this summer.

So you think you can be our intern? Here's what it takes:

• To enter, fill out the entry form and upload a photo or video. Remember, your photo or video should be appropriate for a job interview!
• Entry must be in English and entrants must be 18 or over and a legal resident of the U.S.
• Start spreading the news: rally all of your friends to vote for your entry! Everyone can vote once for each entry - so make sure to get the word out via Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. In 2011, our winning entrant garnered more than 700 votes!
• The top 5 entrants with the most votes will advance to the semi-finals.
• NEW IN 2012! This year, the judges will also pick a "Wild Card" entry to join the top 5 entries with the most votes. So make sure to read the judge's descriptions of what they're looking for in a top entry.
• After a series of video interviews with the semi-finalists, 2 finalists will be selected to come to New York for in-person interviews and to spend the day with Affect.
• One lucky winner will get the internship of a lifetime: $5,000 in a paid internship, and up to $2,500 for a housing stipend in NYC! For complete details on the internship, check out the Meet Affect page.
